Royales Edge North Stars, 3-2
|
Montreal turned a good effort from starter Dan Valéncia into a win over the Minnesota North Stars at The Kallipolis. The final score was 3-2. Valéncia, now 4-6, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. The losing skid has reached 6 games for Minnesota.
Montreal used a clutch at-bat from Danny Law to capture the win. The first baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Royales ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"There is no easy way to lose when you're doing everything you can to win games," said Minnesota manager Florêncio Grandela.
