Krook Mows Down Boston in No-Hitter
|
It was a terrific day for Alco Krook of the Lubbock Green Sox at Rebels Park. The right-hander stood out with a fantastic 6-0 no-hitter against the Boston Rebels.
"I knew I had a no-no going in about the sixth inning when I noticed no one was talking to me anymore," he said, referring to the time-honored superstition of avoiding the pitcher so as not to jinx the no-hitter. "Don't let people fool you. Everybody on the field and in the ballpark knows what's happening. They just pretend they don't."
For the game, Krook totaled 5 walks and 6 strikeouts in a very strong outing.
"His mechanics were perfect, and I don't think he threw one bad pitch in the whole game," Lubbock manager Manolo Román said. "He was that good."
This year in 8 starts, Krook has recorded 2 wins and absorbed 5 losses. He has pitched 48.1 innings, allowed 45 hits, struck out 53 and has a 5.03 ERA.
