Rebels Drop Coalition, 8-3, with Late Score
|
Though he had a stellar game, Jessie Field could not prevent his team, the Columbus Coalition, from losing, 8-3, to the Boston Rebels. Field was 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The win went to Miguel Gómez in relief, making him now 11-5. Edward Taylor took the loss for Columbus. The victory gives the Rebels a record of 81-56.
Dexter Cottingham went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for Boston. The 25-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Edward Taylor. It was his 30th walk of the season.
"Winning never gets dull," said Cottingham.
