The Fort Worth Cougars had to overcome a fine effort from New York pitcher Jerry Lacrosse to grab a narrow 5-3 win at Bronx Municipal Park. Lacrosse went 6.2 innings and allowed 3 runs. Picking up the save was Pat Bruce. He's now 31 for 38 in save chances. With the victory, the Cougars upped their record to 74-64.

Jack Tannehill, the 25-year old shortstop , had a direct impact on the outcome. Tannehill contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the eighth inning to put Fort Worth up, 5-3.

"We did a lot of things right," said Tannehill.
