Seals Earn 4-1 Home Win
|
Juan Peña, who finished 3rd in the BSA in innings pitched with 222.0 in 2050, was terrific for the San Francisco Seals in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Fresno Pharaohs. His performance earned Peña rave reviews. The winning pitcher was Peña, now 7-13. He tossed 7.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. Robert Jolland, credited with the save, is now 19 for 24 in save opportunities.
The Seals got a big at-bat from right fielder Tad Buck. For the game, Buck was 1 for 3 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 19th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 2-0 lead.
Buck called the win a testament to his team's "grit."
The Seals raised their record to 50-88.
