Prates Stars in 4-3 Yetis Win
|
Fans watched the Yonkers Yetis and the Fort Worth Cougars fight to the finish.
The Yonkers Yetis downed the Fort Worth Cougars, 4-3. The hitting star was second baseman Manny Prates. Prates went 4-4 with 2 home runs, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Yetis. Luis Álvarez earned the save, his 21st, for the Yetis.
Prates had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 3-1 fastball from Dave Covington, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Yetis a 4-2 lead. It was the 28th home run of the year for Prates.
Prates told a Yonkers Bulletin reporter that he was "gratified" with the win.
The third-place Yetis sport a record of 74-66.
