The Irvine Gang Green did just enough to sneak past the Charm City Baysox, 3-2, at Prince George's Stadium. Irvine pitcher Matt Mathieu, in particular, had a standout performance. Irvine reliever Eric Barraclough picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Ron Black was saddled with the loss. The Gang Green lead the Heart Division by 14 games.

Nick Baker came through with a big-time hit for Irvine. The pinch hitter smacked a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.

"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Mathieu.
