The Seattle Admirals went home winners at Bronx Municipal Park, thanks in large part to starter Vic Niekro. Niekro stifled the New York Knights, enabling Seattle to grab the 7-0 win. Niekro, now 15-7, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing no runs. The Admirals, at 99-42, have a comfortable 23½-game lead in their division.

The Admirals got a big hit from designated hitter Pablo Torres. In the top of the sixth, Torres pounded a 3-run home run to center. His 33rd home run of the season put the Admirals ahead, 7-0.

Torres called the win "a lesson in teamwork."
