St. Louis Offense Jammed Up by Sextants
|
Queen City got an elite performance from starting pitcher Richard Fitzgerald in securing a 3-1 decision over the St. Louis Browns. The 4th-place Sextants have won 5 straight games.
The game was at a stalemate until left fielder Randy Conley came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing St. Louis pitcher Gary Taylor, he hit a 1-0 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Queen City on top, 2-1.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Conley said after the game.
