In a low-scoring tilt between the Greenville 84's and the Chicago Machine, Norman MacDonald was the difference-maker. The Greenville right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Freddie Pittman, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. Holden Leonard recorded the save for Greenville, his 3rd of the season.
Had Jasiel Briceno not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Briceno hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the 84's.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Greenville skipper Jim Dunbar.
The win has Greenville at 6-8.
