Coyotes Come Up Short at St. Louis, 4-3
|
The St. Louis Browns overcame a good performance by Colorado third baseman Barney King to knock off Colorado, 4-3, at Gateway Stadium. King was 4 for 5 with 3 doubles. He drove in 2 runs. St. Louis pitcher Eli Swift got the win. He's now 2-1. Manuel Núñez was tagged with the loss. Wes López earned the save for St. Louis, his 6th of the year.
Had Simon Ash not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Ash hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 4-3, in favor of the Browns.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Ash.
St. Louis has now won 4 games in a row.
