Mortimore Jacks Two Home Runs in 11-4 Boston Win
|
A 8-RBI performance from the 29-year old shortstop Nicky Mortimore helped the Boston Rebels beat the Minnesota North Stars, 11-4. The win belongs to Jay Rice in relief. His record improves to 5-2. Dave Ramey took the loss for Minnesota. Getting the save was Artie Hill, his 2nd.
A key moment came when Mortimore faced Minnesota hurler Dave Ramey in the bottom of the seventh. The Rebels, who were trailing 4-3, had runners on 2nd and 3rd. Mortimore got a 1-1 fastball and hit a 2-run single.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Mortimore. "And not try to do too much."
Boston is now riding a 3-game win streak.
