Starting pitcher Jorge Cossutta pitched well enough to help the Irvine Gang Green beat the Maui Wave, 5-3. Bob Prescott earned the save for Irvine, his 36th. Irvine is now 104-47, 13 games up in the Heart Division.

The Gang Green got a big at-bat from catcher Estanislau Gandarei. For the game, Gandarei went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 26th home run of the season gave Irvine a 2-0 lead.

"This was a nice win for us," said Gandarei. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
