The Dallas Steers beat the Charm City Baysox, 6-3, at Seabreeze Stadium. The Steers got a fine performance from shortstop Eugene Cook, who went 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dallas reliever Scott Jeffries got the win, raising his record to 5-1. Armando Andrade was tagged with the loss. Bernard Cháves earned the save for Dallas, his 36th.
Cook was 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once against the Baysox. In the bottom of the first inning, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run that put Dallas in front, 1-0.
"You work hard, day in and day out, hoping to give the fans something to cheer about. Today was a good day," Cook told the Dallas News.
Dallas is now 71-82.
