Led by Luis Miguel Martínez, the St. Louis Browns defeated the Greenville 84's, 8-4. Martínez went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 6 for the Browns. Martínez had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-0 fastball from Steve Ruíz, he banged a grand slam home run to left-center, giving the Browns a 8-4 lead. It was the 25th home run of the year for Martínez.

"The fans pay the tickets and help us do what we do, so we like to put on a show for them," Martínez told the St. Louis Daily.
