Irvine pitcher Matt Mathieu did his part in helping his team defeat the Boston Rebels, 5-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The Gang Green lead the Heart Division by 10 games.

Irvine used the timely hitting of Thomas Launay to capture the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Gang Green on top, 4-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.

Mathieu said his team "played with focus."
