Rippers Lose to 84's, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Greenville 84's got the win.
Greenville 84's starter Raúl Bojórquez turned in an exceptional performance against the London Rippers at Michigan & Trumbull, resulting in a Greenville win, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Bojórquez, now 8-6. He tossed 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 0 and fanning 3. Herman Banks notched his 46th save in 52 chances.
The 84's got a big at-bat from center fielder Héctor Accuro. For the game, Accuro was 2 for 4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. In the bottom of the third, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 41st home run of the season gave Greenville a 2-0 lead.
Greenville manager Dale Downs called it "a darn good win."
With the victory, the 84's upped their record to 82-74.
