Kings Drop North Stars, 4-3
|
Minnesota second baseman John O'Neal had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. O'Neal hit 2 home runs, even as Kansas City beat the North Stars, 4-3. Jaime Cortéz was credited with the save, his 40th in 46 tries. The Water Division-leading Kings have a record of 99-61.
Kansas City used a clutch at-bat from Dave Engleman to capture the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Kings ahead, 4-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"We came in and got the job done. That's what it's all about in this business," said Engleman.
