Coalition Get Past San Francisco for 8-7 Win
|
The Columbus Coalition beat the San Francisco Seals, 8-7, with major props going to right fielder Michael Belden. On the day, Belden went 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Coalition. Columbus reliever Chet McPhee picked up the win, upping his record to 3-7. Jerry Martínez took the loss. Dan Daley closed out the game, earning his 31st save.
Columbus took the lead on Belden's 21st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came against Jerry Martínez in the bottom of the eighth, made the score 8-7, Columbus.
"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Belden told the Columbus Gazette.
The Coalition raised their record to 64-96.
