Green Sox Use Late Surge to Win

2054 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the SoCal Blue Crew.
Lubbock beat SoCal on the strength of starting pitcher Guonçallo Meirelles's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 4-1. Bobby Ross collected save number 34.
Esteban Contreras hit a run-scoring double off Otis Blunsden in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Green Sox in front, 2-1. In addition to the double, Contreras had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"Guonçallo was electric," said Lubbock manager Manolo Román.
The third-place Green Sox are now 80-80, the Blue Crew 61-99.
