84's Throttled by Admirals, 4-1
|
Two good teams met in a late-season showdown.
The Seattle Admirals knocked off the Greenville 84's, 4-1, at Michigan & Trumbull. Willie Roundtree was a big reason Seattle won. The first baseman was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The 84's, at 91-71, have lost 7 in a row.
Seattle took a 4-1 lead on Roundtree's 17th home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which he hit off Mark Barber in the top of the sixth, propelled Seattle to the win.
"We missed opportunities once again," said losing manager Jim Dunbar.
