Orlando Loses, 9-6, to Greenville in 14
|
The Greenville 84's withstood a fine game by Orlando shortstop George Roberts at Mel Fields, to upend the Calrissian, 9-6. Roberts was 2-7 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3. The win was credited to 25-year old right-handed pitcher Conan Johnson in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Woodrow Brown took the loss. For the Calrissian, the loss makes their record 6-11.
Greenville used a timely hit from Mike Brown to get the win. The second baseman stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the 14th inning to put the 84's ahead, 7-6. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a difference-maker.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Brown said.
