New Orleans Defeated By Meatballs, 5-1
|
The home crowd had a good time watching the New Orleans Crescents and Sausalito Meatballs get after it.
Tom Miller, who is a three-time All-Star, imposed his will on the Crescents from the get-go. Relying mainly on his splitter, the right-hander spearheaded the 5-1 Sausalito triumph. The winning pitcher was Miller, now 2-3. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6.
Vic Rivers, who is tied for 6th in the BSA with a 1.169 OPS, chipped in a 2-run home run for Sausalito in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.
"I executed the game plan," said Miller.
The Crescents, now 5-16, continue their inauspicious start.
