The Chicago Machine defeated the St. Louis Browns, 7-4. Right Fielder Michael Howard deserved a large share of the credit. Howard was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Machine. Steve Belaouf got the win, improving to 1-2. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 1 run on 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. Alfonso Mendoza got credit for the save for Chicago. It was his 7th of the year.

With Chicago leading 2-0 in the top of the third, Howard hit a fastball from Víctor Sánchez for a 2-run home run. It was his 4th home run of the season and put the Machine ahead, 4-0.

"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Chicago manager Jesús Torres.

With the win, Chicago is 10-14.
