Alfonso Téllez of the Mexico City Cerveceros shut out the Galveston Tides, 13-0, at $5 Footlong Field, holding them to 3 hits with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts.

Pressed for comments on his club's defeat, Galveston skipper Javier Deleón called the outing from Téllez "a jewel."

"The way Téllez was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him," he said.

So far this year, Téllez has made 13 starts, tossed 74.2 innings, struck out 51 batters and walked 27. His record is 6-4 with a 5.06 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .246 batting average.
