Calrissian Knock Off Rippers, 8-6
|
The Orlando Calrissian topped the London Rippers, 8-6, in Baseball Stars Association action at Mel Fields. The game was highlighted by the performance of Orlando pitcher Pat Daniel. The winning pitcher was Daniel, now 2-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 8. London, now 6-19, continues its tough start.
Ronnie Ford had a big 2-run double for the Calrissian in the bottom of the second inning. With Orlando leading 3-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 28-year old right-handed pitcher Larry Cook and swatted a double to left. It was his 4th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Calrissian ahead, 5-0.
Orlando manager Domingo Matos was pleased with the team's effort. "Our guys went out there and put good wood on the ball," he said.
