With catcher Estanislau Gandarei leading the charge, the Seattle Admirals defeated the New York Knights, 8-1, at Bronx Municipal Park. Gandarei, who is a five-time All-Star, went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Vic Niekro got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 7 innings. New York drops to 11-16.

With Seattle leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Gandarei hit a cutter from Theron Koch for a 2-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season and put the Admirals ahead, 3-0.

"This losing is getting old," said New York manager Matthias Maccioni.
