Blue Crew Lose to Admirals, 7-3
|
The Seattle Admirals beat the SoCal Blue Crew, 7-3, at Blue Crew Park. Gunnar Boggs, in particular, was impressive. He went 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner was Vic Niekro, who threw 120 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Noberto Barba closed it out for Seattle, earning his 4th save.
With Seattle leading 1-0 in the top of the fourth, Boggs hit a 2-run single off SoCal hurler Juan Escalante. It was the 36th hit of the season for Boggs and put his team ahead, 3-0.
In postgame comments to the Seattle Citizen, Boggs said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Seattle is off to a hot start at 19-7.
