G-Strings Jolt 84's, 6-3, with Late Rally
|
The inspired effort of Greenville third baseman Todd Guy was not enough to prevent a loss, 6-3, to the Nashville G-Strings. Guy hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Jesús Flores snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season. The save went to Ernest Williams, his 1st this season.
Nashville needed the clutch hitting of Pat Tate to notch the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the G-Strings on top, 5-3. For the game, Tate had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Tate said after the game.
The win gives Nashville a record of 3-0.
