Fire Popped by Rebels, 6-2
|
The 6-2 Boston win over Cleveland was due in large part to Dan Norman. The Rebels left fielder was 2-4 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Alain Valette, the winner, improved to 3-0. He held Cleveland to 1 run on 6 hits over 6 innings, while racking up 6 strikeouts. Artie Hill earned the save for Boston, his 1st of the year.
Norman had a game-changing double in the top of the seventh. On a full count fastball from Ian Price, he banged a run-scoring double to center, giving the Rebels a 2-1 lead. It was the 2nd double of the year for Norman.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Norman, "one at-bat at a time."
With the win, Boston elevates its record to 13-15.
