van Dam Brilliant -- Fires No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Bernard van Dam of the Waco Blue Cats totally silenced the bats of the Richardson Barons, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 8-0 victory, van Dam faced only 28 batters, surrendered no hits, had 10 strikeouts and no walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Waco manager Martin Lowry said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager José Martínez told reporters in the clubhouse that he had a "simple" analysis of the game.
"The Blue Cats had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, van Dam pitched a heck of a ballgame."
This season, van Dam has rung up 6 wins and 4 losses in 16 games. He has an ERA of 5.54 and has fanned 64 batters in 87.2 innings.
