84's Victorious at Montreal, 5-2

The Montreal Royales got a superb performance from pitcher Steve Beach, but the Greenville 84's still won the game, 5-2. Beach threw 5.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Vicente Rodríguez snagged the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits over 3.1 innings. He's now 1-0 on the season. Herman Banks was called on to finish, recording his 8th save.
Mike Brown came through for Greenville when he hit a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a two-strike fastball to right field, staking his team to a 3-2 lead.
Brown said he was "thrilled" the fans had something to get excited about.
The victory makes Greenville 16-12, as the team seeks a return to the playoffs in 2055.
