Michigan & Trumbull was the site of the home opener for the Greenville 84's. The contest featured a prime matchup between Ramón Longoria of the visiting St. Louis Browns and Holden Leonard of the 84's. The final score was 5-4, the Browns getting the win. Ramón Longoria turned in the best performance. The winner was Longoria. He threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball. The loser was Holden Leonard.

Ralph Gary had a big 2-run home run for the Browns in the top of the fifth inning. With St. Louis leading 3-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from former first round draft pick Holden Leonard and swatted a home run to left. It was his 1st home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Browns ahead, 5-0.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Longoria said.
