Streaking Browns Win Another One, 8-1
|
Pitcher Don Walker was sensational for the St. Louis Browns in his team's 8-1 triumph over the Kansas City Kings. Walker picked up the win, and it was well-earned. Walker, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 4, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The Browns, now 22-8, have been red hot.
St. Louis used the bat of Woody Sugimoto to capture the win. The shortstop jacked a 3-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Browns ahead, 4-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a dandy.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Walker.
