The Irvine Gang Green got a sterling performance from pitcher Jorge Cossutta, but the Fort Worth Cougars still prevailed, 3-2. Cossutta threw 6.0 innings of 3-hit ball. Melvin Scott earned the win for Fort Worth. He lasted 7.1 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 8. With the win, he raised his record to 5-1. Earning his 9th save for Fort Worth was Pat Bruce.
Geoff Jacobs, the 28-year old second baseman , had a direct impact on the outcome. Jacobs contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Fort Worth up, 3-1.
Jacobs called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
Fort Worth goes to 17-14.
