The St. Louis Browns trumped the Long Island Ducks, 12-5, at The Ballpark at Sloss Furnace. St. Louis second baseman Arnold Carey was terrific. He hit 3 home runs. He drove in 8 runs and scored three times. St. Louis pitcher Rick Wortham got the win. He's now 3-2. Júlio Dávila was tagged with the loss. The Fire Division-leading Browns have a record of 38-12.

In the top of the third, St. Louis designated hitter Tomás Guzmán had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and two out, Guzmán stroked a 2-run single to center. It made the score 4-1, St. Louis. For the game, he went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.
