Starting pitcher Eliot Hines pitched well enough to help the Maui Wave beat the Long Island Ducks, 6-4. Picking up his 14th save was 29-year old left-handed pitcher James Horton. The Wave improved their record to 34-22 with the win over Long Island.

León Corona had a big 2-run home run for the Wave in the bottom of the first inning. With Maui trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a cutter from Dan Olson, who is tied for 3rd in the BSA with a 11.2 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 15th home run of the season, which put the Wave on top, 3-2.

"Eliot is pitching with a lot of determination and a lot of fire," said Maui manager José Betancourt.
