Racers Green Fans 16 Esquires

Del Mar Racers starter Matt Green brought his best stuff to Berry Field today against the Eau Claire Esquires, striking out 16 batters in his club's 6-1 victory.
In a strong performance, the 21-year-old Green gave up 2 hits in his 8 innings of work and issued no walks.
"I felt good out there," he said after the game. "My fastball had a lot of life and my slider was sharp. It was giving hitters fits and working well for me."
Taking a look at his season, Green has made no relief appearances, recorded no saves and compiled a 6-0 won-lost mark and a 3.31 ERA. In pitching 49 innings, he has totaled 78 strikeouts and 12 walks.
