A jubilant Stanley Sharp joined the postgame press conference at Pride Field to offer some unusual words of encouragement -- for the Cincinnati Pride pitching staff he had just vanquished.

"It may not have looked like it," said the Del Mar Racers left fielder, "but I saw some awful good pitches today. If luck hadn't been on my side it might have turned out a lot different."

That would not have been the conclusion of anyone who saw his dominant 5-for-5 hitting performance, which led to the 12-3 Racers win.

"He made it look easy," said Dwight Henderson, manager of the Pride. "We never figured out what to do with him. Obviously."

Stanley Sharp singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, singled in the 8th and doubled in the 9th.

This year, Sharp is hitting .287, produced 16 RBIs and 3 home runs, scored 22 times and gotten on base at a .391 rate.
