Mike Becerra knows as well as anyone that in baseball, the biggest contracts go to the biggest hitters. At Grays Harbor Ballpark, he made his case to be considered among that group.

The 21-year-old third baseman hammered 5 hits in 5 chances, though the remarkable effort came even as his Cincinnati Pride fell, 5-3, to the Aberdeen Scorpions.

"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," Scorpions manager Peter Davis told BNN sportswriters after the game. "Thankfully, we were able to do enough elsewhere that Becerra wasn't the difference."

Mike Becerra singled in the 2nd, doubled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and doubled in the 9th.


For the year, Becerra has hit at a .300 clip with 10 RBIs, 2 home runs and 5 runs scored.
