Knights Turn Away Machine, 6-4
|
The New York Knights topped the Chicago Machine by a score of 6-4. Leading the way was designated hitter Cooper Squires. Squires went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times for the Knights. Dylan Newell, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 14th save. The Knights go to 26-44 with the win.
One of the clutch hits for New York came from one of their biggest talents. In the bottom of the seventh with no one out, Pedro Sánchez, who is on pace for 102 RBI this season, hit a 2-run single to put the Knights up, 6-4. For the game, the right fielder was 2 for 4 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.
"We take it day by day here," said Sánchez, "and today was a good one for us."
