Phillips Strokes 5 Hits
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.

Tom Phillips is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-7 against the Iowa State Cyclones at Cap Timm Field today. The monster effort from the 18-year-old catcher helped the South Carolina Gamecocks take the win, 32-12.

"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Cyclones manager Juan Jose Rojas. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."

Tom Phillips singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, hit a two-run home run off Chris Baker in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, walked in the 7th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, hit a GRAND SLAM off Wayne Bell in the 7th and struck out in the 8th.

This season Phillips is batting .478 with 4 home runs.
