The Minnesota North Stars defeated the San Francisco Seals, 7-2. Doing his part was third baseman Brandon Jones, who went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The victory gives Minnesota a record of 36-35.

John O'Neal had a big 2-run home run for the North Stars in the bottom of the second inning. With Minnesota leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from 23-year old right-handed pitcher Dale Drake and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the North Stars on top, 3-0.

Said losing manager Skip Andrews: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
