Calderón Smacks 3 Out of the Park Wednesday, June 22nd, 2039 Fans are still buzzing after Irvine whipped the Houston Eagles by the score of 13-4 today at The Ballpark at Irvine. Cristóbal Calderón smashed three home runs in the contest, a feat that would be a career highlight for most players and few fans ever see. In a tremendous performance, the center fielder bashed out 3 hits in 4 at-bats, had 6 RBIs and scored 3 times. At the postgame press conference, Calderón said it was an "unbelievable" feeling to hit three home runs in a game. "Getting one homer is special, and two is great," Calderón said. "Three is just... wow." Cristóbal Calderón struck out in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Ron Crawford in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Jim Rush in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Sam Santos in the 7th. Thus far this year Calderón has hit .249 with 11 home runs and 27 RBIs. |
