Hicks's 20-Game Hit Streak Ends
Thursday, August 26th, 2038
For once, it was the Vista Panthers picking up the slack for Sam Hicks.

The club's "offensive catalyst," as Vista manager Mark Hebert has frequently called him, went uncharacteristically silent today and saw his 20-game hitting streak snapped by the Springfield Stars. Hicks was bailed out by the rest of the Panthers, however, who stopped the Stars, 12-7.

The 27-year-old second baseman finished the day 0-for-4, and told reporters at the postgame press conference that "everybody did their job but me."

"Not that it was a huge problem -- we still won the game," he said with a grin. "The streak was a good run though. I'll try to start another one tomorrow."

A look at his current stats shows Hicks with a .323 average, 12 home runs, 49 RBIs and 60 runs scored. He has played in 82 games.
