Cook Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 25 Wednesday, August 5th , 2054 After 25 games, Eugene Cook had his hitting streak ended abruptly by the Cozumel Reef Divers at Seabreeze Stadium. The Dallas Steers shortstop failed to get a hit in 3 at-bats, bringing his tenure in the national spotlight to a halt. Despite the tough day at the plate, Cook seemed unconcerned after the game, talking instead about the Steers beating the Reef Divers, 6-4. "It was good while it lasted," Cook said. "If it had to end, I'm glad it ended with a victory." For the season, Cook is hitting .306, batted in 61 runs with 17 home runs and 51 runs scored. |
