Morse 5-for-5 for Orlando
Sunday, September 26th , 2055
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Thatcher Morse, it came around today.
The 31-year-old first baseman scattered hits all over Mel Fields to pace the 11-8 Orlando Calrissian victory over the St. Louis Browns.
St. Louis skipper José Mora told reporters in the press room that "Morse deserves a hat-tip."
"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Morse hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."
Thatcher Morse singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Sterling Ascensio in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.
This season, Morse has posted a batting average of .292 with 155 hits in 530 at-bats, 18 home runs and 88 RBIs. He has also scored 95 runs, walked 69 times and compiled a .376 OBP.
