Boston, Long Island Trade Players

In a move that has fans in both cities buzzing, the Boston Rebels and the Long Island Ducks have agreed to a deal that will have 27-year old CF Jorge Cuellar heading to Long Island in exchange for 27-year old RHP Wendell Mellant, 26-year old 3B Wallace David, 17-year old minor league LF Tony Cruz, and a 8th round draft pick. Provided they pass a physical, the players should be with their respective teams in time for tomorrow's games.
Boston will retain a portion of Cuellar's remaining contract.
Looking at his all-time stats, Cuellar has a lifetime .256 average with 658 hits, 100 doubles, 14 triples, 77 home runs and 291 RBIs. To date he has scored 398 runs, walked 249 times and stolen 187 bases.
On his career ledger Mellant has a 21-14 mark, 242 appearances, 11 saves and a 3.17 ERA. He has 373 strikeouts in 389 innings pitched.
