Alain Valette Out for Season Saturday, May 16th , 2054 The Boston Rebels and their fans were rocked today by the news that star starting pitcher Alain Valette would miss the rest of the season due to injury. Valette was hurt in a recent game against the Minnesota North Stars while throwing a pitch. He was immediately removed from the game and taken for examination. Tests today revealed the injury was a ruptured disc. His doctors think that Valette will miss about 9 months. To date, Valette has a 4-0 mark in 9 starts with a 4.75 ERA. He has given up 45 hits in 47.1 innings, struck out 40 and issued 18 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .243 batting average against him. |
