Arroyo Belts 3 HR Against Doral Friday, June 9th , 2051 Santo Domingo Dragons second baseman José Arroyo put on a dazzling display of power today at Regions Field against the Doral Arepas. In the 13-2 Dragons victory Arroyo penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Doral manager León Moya said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 29-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 8 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Arroyo said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." José Arroyo hit a GRAND SLAM off Ed Cournoyer in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off Sergio García in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Paul Green in the 8th. Thus far this season Arroyo is hitting .279 with 6 home runs, 18 RBIs and 11 runs scored. He has 17 hits in 61 at-bats and has played in 16 games. |
